Led by choreographer and director CJay Philip, Dance & Bmore is “a diverse ensemble of singers, dancers, poets and musicians who create a fusion of socially conscious work that is both interactive and empowering”. The nonprofit serves Baltimore’s healing dance needs through performances and regular classes for youth, seniors, and families. For their website, designer Graham Coreil-Allen listened to and worked closely Philip on creating an in-depth yet succinct living well of all that Dance & Bmore has to offer.
Built using a customized wordpress theme, the mobile-ready danceandbmore.com features a custom edited, looping water background that highlights the organizations’ key elements: a socially-engaged Purpose, inclusive Programs, and its diverse People served. The Projects page includes highlights of past performances and programs using a portfolio style layout with robust slider galleries. The blog is used to promote upcoming Events while the News section showcases related media coverage.
The website colors, textures, imagery, and text were generated through a collaborative process between Coreil-Allen, Philip, and her team. In addition to designing the website, Coreil-Allen adapted the Dance & Bmore logo into a circular icon that serves as the website favicon and page transition animation. He also provided social media integrations, including a Mailchimp newsletter sign-up form, and server-side support in rolling out the website.
