Crossing at Baltimore’s Washington Boulevard & Carey Street now comes with a pop of Pigtown flair thanks to the Open Aperture mural. The concentric triangles design is inspired by the geometry of a camera shutter; framing the street in bold movement and accented with the bright pink of Pigtown Main Street. The triangles of the aperture reach past the bump outs to the sidewalks, pulling pedestrians in with its motion. The installation wrapped up with a community planter paint day—giving neighbors a chance to leave their mark and celebrate these refreshed public spaces together. A vibrant design with a traffic-calming function, Open Aperture makes this intersection safer and more welcoming for everyone.
