The Mount Vernon Children’s Park Bird House serves as an inviting habitat for local birds and colorful beacon welcoming families into the cherished neighborhood play area. Complete with a stoop, cornice, and fenestration, the miniature townhouse takes direct inspiration from the historic building standing adjacent to the park. A bright salmon pink was selected for the walls to provide a warm, welcoming color for birds and people alike. The bird house was commissioned by Jack Danna of the Mount Vernon-Belvedere Association, designed by public artist Graham Coreil-Allen, and fabricated by Felipe Goncalves, with funding from the Maryland State Community Safety Works grant.
